Our Reserve Pinot Noir showcases the distinctive fruit characters for which Marlborough Pinot Noir is internationally recognised, while reflecting of the terroir of our vineyard and classic winemaking style.
Only a limited amount of the best quality fruit from our top-performing vineyard blocks is selected to make this wine. The wine is hand-plunged in open top fermenters, then matured predominantly in French oak barriques (one third of which are new) for 10 months, which adds a distinctive yet integrated oak character.
The finished wine is deep red with vivid purple hints. It shows aromas of black cherry, raspberry and violet, melded with hints of dark chocolate and espresso. Ripe cherry and black plum flavours are complemented by fine fruit tannins and seductively spicy French oak.
It makes a terrific match for fine food, such as Yellowfin tuna seared and presented rare, rested on bok choy with a rosemary and ginger soy infusion, or pan-seared veal escallops, served with Portobello and Shiitake mushrooms and truffle potato mash.
